Franziska Racker Centers' Making Room Campaign: Creating a Culture of Inclusion

There are 3 main goals we will achieve with this campaign:

1.  To help our community better understand people with disabilities we will create a Learning Center that will offer trainings for our own staff, families, professionals from other organziations and the community at large.

2.  To continue to be able to provide special education preschool services for Tompkins County, we will modernize our Wilkins Road preschool site which is over 50 years old, updating the inefficient HVAC System and infrastructure of the site.

3.  We will better organzie our program space and the supoprt functions of the agency, helping staff be more effective and efficient as they work with families and people with disabilities in Cortland, Tioga and Tompkins Counties.

Franziska Racker Centers is a private, nonprofit organziation that works to create opportunities for individuals with special needs and their families. Each year we provide approximately 165,000 individual services to the 2,800 people we serve in Cortland, Tioga and Tompkins Counties.

Who we serve:

  • Approximately 500 infants and toddlers receive Early Intervention and evaluation services in their homes or in their community daycare setting.
  • Over 400 three-to-five year olds participate in our child care and preschool programs, including more than fifty children who do not have special needs.
  • More than 200 school-age youth receive speech, physical, occupational and audiological therapies and mental health services.
  • Approximately 100 individuals (adolescents through adults) live in our nineteen supportive residences.
  • Over 500 people take part in respite care, case management and referral services, and community involvement programs including day habilitation, residential habilitation, service coordination and Waiver Respite.
  • Approximately 50 people receive ongoing services at our community clinic.
  • More than 1,000 people receive assessments through our clinical services

Please consider joining us in this important effort so we may best serve people with disabilities now, and for years to come.
