Starry Night Free Standing Respite House

The beginning of "Starry Night"...

See the construction phases below as Starry Night was built. The free-standing respite house opened it's doors to families and their loved ones in December 2011.

  • The "Starry Night" respite house is a single story, ranch style home that is fully accessible, with five bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, dining room, family room, two full baths, a garage, and fenced in backyard for outdoor activities.
  • The house offers the opportunity for family members to get the time they need while we provide guests with 24 hour care in an environment with skilled staff able to attend to the specialized needs of guests.
  • The house located on Starr Road in Cortland, NY serves Cortland and the surrounding areas, offering short-term residential services for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
  • "Starry Night" supports both children and adults with a wide variety of disabilities including; autism, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsey, spina bifida, as well as individuals requiring support for high medical needs.
  • A free-standing respite house is a way to address the sometimes urgent needs associated with a caregiver or another family member as well as the physical and emotional stress associated with being a primary caregiver for an extended period of time. If you have a loved-one with a special need, you must have specialized care for them if you are called away. Whether it is for a well deserved rest from the daily challenges of care-taking, or it's because you have a family emergency with another family member, the respite house will now be an option to meet your needs for a short-term residential opportunity for your loved one.
