Franziska Racker Centers joins Tompkins County Climate Protection Initiative

Franziska Racker Centers is now officially a new member of the Tompkins County Climate Protection Intiative (TCCPI). As the website states, "TCCPI is a multisector collaboration seeking to leverage the climate action commitments made by Cornell University, Ithaca College, Tompkins Cortland Community College, Tompkins County, and the City of Ithaca to mobilize a countywide energy efficiency effort and accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy."
TCCPI has four major goals:
1. Facilitate implementation of a common strategy, target, and timetable for achieving significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
2. Creation of a peer-to-peer mentoring network that will provide mutual support among the participants in addressing the problems and challenges involved in meeting the county's target of 80% reductions in GHG emissions and timetable of 2% per year.
3. Establishment of a consortium that will allow members to explore potential financing mechanisms and purchase the necessary goods and services to achieve greenhouse gas reduction targets at a significant discount.
4. Facilitate development of a process and tools that will allow us to monitor our progress through effective data collection and analysis, promoting transparency, and accountability.
