"Problems or Possibilities?"
"Problems or Possibilities" the story of Rose, is now available for purchase. This was a performance art piece that was documented by the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College. Steve Gordon, Assistant Professor of Film and Television Program Development, produced a DVD of the performance including interviews with cast, director, and the mother and daughter that the story is based on. Staged by a cast of community members and Ithaca College students, the play is directed by Cynthia Henderson, Associate Professor in Theatre Arts at Ithaca College and founder of the Performing Arts for Social Change.
The DVD running time is approximately 34 minutes and includes a workshop and discussion guide. The story is about Rose, who just moved to a new high school and has a hard time adjusting. Her mother has problems of her own. Rose's behavioral and emotional challenges lead to the involvement of a number of people in her life. You'll hear the perspectives of her teacher, social worker, principal, classmate, neighbor, mother, and Rose herself. For Rose to find her way, it takes the support and collaboration of people in her life to help her believe that she does matter and that anything is possible!
