Franziska Racker Centers is an approved provider of coursework or training in the needs of students with autism!
In response to the growing number of children being diagnosed with autism, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations were amended in 2008. The amendment requires that: all persons applying for certification as a special education teacher through the individual transcript evaluation process or through SED's TEACH system OR certified administrators assigned to a special education position after September 2, 2009 complete course work or training in the area of students with autism. This requirement applies to those applicants who apply for a teaching certificate or license in the following areas: special education, students with disabilities, teaching students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, teaching students who are blind to visually impaired, teaching students with speech and language disabilities, and administrators or supervisors who work in special education positions.
